You hit the nail on the head. People (and by people I mean mostly your husband and kids :-)) sometimes take it for granted that when you work from home you are available all day to tend to their important matters first. Making “appointments” with the family and yourself can therefore help to get some order back.

We should just take care not to get caught up in making those appointments with family members – being there for their needs are one of the reasons we love working from home, right?

This is such good advice! Some days it feels as if I don’t get anything done although I am busy the whole day. Just when I think I can sit down in front of the computer to start working, someone needs my attention to quickly take them to town, my granddaughter needs me “right now”, or I just have to go and look at the flowers in the garden this minute…

I am going to follow your advice and start making appointments with everybody in my household, including myself. Hopefully they will also get the message that working from home does not necessarily mean you are available at all times!
